Chris "Carthorse" Riley

"I'm the Captain so I'll be as scruffy as I like!"

  • Name Christopher Robert Riley (also known as "Cart Horse" to his team mates)

  • Date of Birth 18th April 1957

  • Married or single or a bit of both? Married

  • Children? 5 - Wayne (also plays for Dunmow FC as a striker), Danielle, Lauren, Jessica and Joe (wants to play for Dunmow FC one day) Dunmow's Youth Policy!

  • Where were you born? (city/town) Islington, London

  • Where do you live? Gt. Dunmow

  • What's your job? Information Technology Systems Manager

  • Which Football side do you support? Arsenal FC

  • Who's your favourite player? Tony Adams

  • What's your favourite food? Indian

  • Best place to eat (ever)? Porters Restaurant, Henrietta Street, London WC2 - it's a traditional English restaurant which serves up great pies and puddings - it's brilliant.

  • Best place to eat in Dunmow? Jalsa Ghar Indian Restaurant (it's also a pub - bloody brilliant!)

  • What's your favourite music/record? The Quo - Roll Over Lay Down

  • What's your favourite drink? Stella Artois - but it does my head in! So I drink Kronenbourg 1664 instead.

  • If you smoke - what do you smoke? Don't smoke - it's bad for your health!

  • What's your best moment in football generally? (e.g. Leeds Utd winning the championship etc) On the 8th May 1971 Arsenal came from behind to take the FA Cup and their historic first double. Only five day's previously the Gunners had won the league with a win over old enemies Tottenham, and now they faced Liverpool in the final of the cup. My magic moment came in the 111th minute of the game, when a weary Charlie George received the ball in the Liverpool area and, under pressure, from 20 yards out cannoned the ball past Ray Clemence's outstretched fingers. What a brilliant goal, absolute magic - the double was ours!

  • What's your best moment in football with Dunmow F.C. Can't think of anything - only kidding! When I scored my first goal for the club - in the oppositions net instead of our own, becoming Captain (then relinquishing it) and watching Martin in goal - it's a laugh a minute (only joking Mart)!

  • What would you like to say to the world? Live for today, as tomorrow may never come!

  • Number of accidents you have had in a car (driven by you, snigger!) - Never had one, touch wood!
